Supt. Marvin L. Holland, inspired by God through much fasting and prayer began this ministry in Hawkins, Texas in the year of 1982. Supt. & First Lady Holland with their children Marvin Jr. and Kevin commuted from Dallas to Hawkins for several years before purchasing a home in this area.

Initially the services were conducted in the home of Bro. Ulysses Holland Sr. & Mother Toy Holland. They were the first members along with Mother Vera Moore. Prayer and the teaching of the Gods Word were held on Wednesday and Friday nights concluding with Sunday morning worship and Y.P. W. W. in the evening. God blessed and set His divine approval on this ministry by saving souls were and filling them with the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

The Old Hawkins School building was leased for a year to conduct services and later these services were held in the home of Mr. & Mrs. Richard Butler Sr. Several years later land was purchased on Hwy. 80, 1 mile east of Hawkins and a building was relocated to this site which became the first official church for New Hope. Tuesday & Thursday morning prayer meetings with Wednesday night Bible Study were held concluding with Sunday services. Again, the Lord tremendously blessed this move and added souls to the church. The building was filled to its capacity.

God gave our leader, Supt. Holland a vision of a large beautiful church which now is our present sanctuary. Recently, an additional 14 acres of land was purchased to further this great ministry. God continues to smile upon this work and we understand that by the grace of the Lord we have come a long way.

New Hope Church of God in Christ will continue to thrive and make great strides for Jesus as He leads us into the future.

WE CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHICH STRENGTHENS US!
